Our Story
Ezy-Clean began back in 2002 with father and son team, Richard and James Vincent. A young James was looking for a solid career and his father, Richard, was looking for new options after many years as the CEO of a commercial cleaning company.
James could have taken a sports marketing job in London, and Richard could have found another corporate role. Instead, they sat down and asked themselves a more interesting question: what if we built something together?
Richard had always believed the principles that made commercial cleaning successful – professional systems, proper management, investment in technology – could transform the residential cleaning sector, too. James brought energy, ambition, and a willingness to get his hands dirty building something from scratch.
They looked at the domestic window cleaning industry and saw an opportunity hiding in plain sight.
At the time, it was very much a business stuck in the past – one man, a ladder, and a bucket. It worked, if only because there weren’t any other options for homeowners, but it was inefficient, unsafe, and not really what customers wanted in this day and age.
Richard and James saw the gap. Their goal was to build a service which was professional, reliable, and genuinely convenient for customers. More than that, they wanted to prove that domestic window cleaning could be run as a proper, 21st century business. Better customer interaction, more streamlined organisation, and services which were more reliable and accessible – and, most importantly, actually profitable, not just a side gig.
That vision became Ezy-Clean.
Starting small, thinking big
Starting out with just a handful of customers in their native Kent, Richard and James’s first step was to bring in water-fed poles – a common feature of most window cleaning companies now, but a pioneering feature at the time. The result was more efficient cleans which were not only safer, but of a much more consistent quality. Combined with a modern payment system that let customers pay by direct debit, professional branding, and reliable scheduling, they offered something genuinely different.
The response was immediate – customers loved it
Word spread, and within 10 years they had grown their customer base to more than 2,000 homeowners serviced by multiple employees and vans. They’d proven the concept worked but, more importantly, they’d created something scalable: a business model that could be replicated anywhere there were homes and people who valued professional service.
From business to franchise network
Ezy-Clean had perfectly captured what customers wanted and needed, and at exactly the right time. It was clear this was a concept which could just run and run, with huge potential for growth, offering something different to neighbourhoods all across the UK.
However, James and Richard didn’t want to just keep expanding their core operation in the traditional sense. They wanted to embrace a more scalable model which could help others enjoy the same success they had, and to attract not just more employees, but the kind of people who could work alongside them to grow the brand.
Franchising allowed them to do exactly that.
Richard and James didn’t set out to just build a successful window cleaning business. They set out to prove that with the right systems, the right approach, and the right people, you could transform an entire industry while creating genuine opportunities for others.
That’s exactly what they’ve done, and now they’re looking for the next people who want to be part of it.
